First Post

Alright, so first rule about me: I'm a late bloomer. Everything novel that everyone has been doing pretty regularly takes me about 5 years to finally catch on. Blogging is no exception.

After graduating college, I notice that I have a lot of free time. So I thought blogging would be a nice thing to take up, at least for a little bit. I like sports and politics, so that is what anyone will see on the blog pretty regularly (Sports > politics for the most part, they're at least fun).

So my first blog will be about......football. Namely college football. I am a graduate of a Big XII school, so obvioulsy I'm a Big XII guy. This weekend has a big Big XII game on its slate: Ok st and texas. Both are teams that I consider completely overrated at the start of the season. Obviously the cowboys losing to Houston in Stillwater throws up a huge red flag about how overrated they might be, but much to the pokes' defense, the cougars needed some lucky plays to pull that one out, namely the deflected pass for a touchdown in the fourth quarter by case keenum. I'm not going to excuse the cowboys, they should have won that. But, looking at Oklahoma State's season so far, its been a tumultuous one. First they lose Kendall Hunter, who is one of the best (if not the best) runningbacks in the Big XII, then DB and punt/kick returner Perrish Cox, then they lose Dez Bryant for the year because PrimeTime can't keep his business out of others' business. However, they're 6-1, thats not too shabby. Good job, Mike Gundy.

Texas, on the other hand, was the preseason favorite to win the Big XII south and the Big XII, and eventually the national championship. They come into this week's matchup undefeated at 7-0. And hey, I don't mean to crap on anyone's work.....but can Texas be any more overrated? Mack Brown refuses to play stiff nonconference opponents, they insist on playing tech EARLY to clinch a supposed-to-be-easy win over the green Red Raiders, and they re-knock out the defending heisman trophy winner (and their fans cheered that on for 5 minutes straight when it happened. hmm.) The only big 12 team that they've physically dominated was Missouri, and that Tiger team is an apple that has fallen FAAARRR from the tree. Tech and OU's defense whithered McCoy and Shipley to almost nothing, and Colorado (?) stunted their running attack to a pathetic sub-50 yard rushing game. Tech and OU also outgained Texas on offense (by about 100 yards a piece) in their respective games. So.......does Ok St have a chance to be Texas?

Well, yes.....for two reasons. A) Its in Stilly, and if that doesn't mean intimidating homefield advantage for Ok St, then at least it means Texas won't have Bible and Chrystal to rely on for slanted officiating. And B) like i said above....I just don't think Texas is that good. Over-stated defense with a shell of an offense means the Ok St has a good chance. I don't like either one of these teams, but I think there would be some silver lining to a big 12 team not going undefeated and into the national championship, because i think whoever gets thrown into that game with Alabama/Florida is gonna get killed. Yikes.

That's my first post. It was fun. I have no idea who's gonna see it, if anyone.
